What is the Chinese Tea Ceremony?

The Chinese Tea Ceremony is enter- taining and informative and provides nourishment for the body and mind.  Laura shares information on the legend and history of tea, how it is cultivated, harvested and processed, the different types and qualities of tea, how to properly brew tea and the health benefits of drinking tea.  Amusing anecdotes, tea poetry, explanation of the making of Yixing teapots, and what design elements are preferred in a functional teapot are included.

All of this information is presented informally while Laura prepares and serves two different kinds of top quality Chinese and Taiwanese teas.  Each person will sample several cups of each tea while enjoying fresh organic fruits and tea snacks specially prepared for the party.  The emphasis is on healthy enjoyment in a relaxed and casual atmosphere.  You will leave the party feeling refreshed, peaceful and energized.

About the presenter:

A potter for over twenty years, Laura has studied tea and traditional Chinese teapot making with internationally known artist, Ah Leon.  She has been presenting tea ceremonies and lectures since 2003.   Laura currently teaches pottery at the Canton Museum of Art and in her home studio.  Her beautiful teapots have been in shows locally and across the U.S.  Her one-of-a-kind, hand crafted teapots are available for purchase.
